That said, I wish they weren't there because I don't like them in general and don't like where the games industry is headed with them. When I read Metacritic and some forums, I would swear that the people complaining have never actually played the game. You absolutely do not need a single thing, and I have seen multiple gaming publications repeat that same things. As for the microtransactions and loot boxes that people have complained about, it is far overblown. My favorite book and movie ever is The Lord of the Rings, and I'm fine with the liberties this game takes. It isn't canon by any means, but it is an enjoyable story and only the most die-hard fans would have a problem with it. It combines all these aspects into the lore and world of Tolkien. It is a derivative game - combining the parkour of Assassin's Creed, the towers of Far Cry and Assassin's Creed, with the melee combat of Batman and the bow combat of Tomb Raider or Horizon Zero Dawn, There are times with investigations - similar to The Witcher 3 and Batman. It is a derivative game - combining the parkour of Assassin's Creed, the towers of Far Cry and Assassin's Creed, with the melee combat of Batman and the bow combat of Tomb Raider SCORE: 9/10 First off, the game is an improvement in every way from Shadow of Mordor - better combat, more varied environments, better graphics, better world building, better use of your followers, and no QTEs. At least i didn't encounter any serious bug.

No **** crashes, no game breaking bugs, nothing. If there are issues which heavily affect your gaming experience, then you're free to give all those 0-1-2-3-4 points. Instead of boycoting a game without playing it, first play it. Well after doing more quests (i don't want to give spoilers). There's one ending which you can see after main quests, and other one is. One of the most memorable game endings ever, and no, you don't have to pay anything to see that ending(s). (blood effects, more frequent decapitations in SoM) SoM Players will find out what i'm trying to say. And another thing, Shadow of Mordor is more brutal. It looks more cinematic and if you have terrible fps drops, 30fps lock helps you. I, personally, locked the FPS to 30 and set almost everything to max graphics to enjoy it. And, while game looks worse than Mordor, it also performs worse than Mordor. Also game characters (orcs, humans etc.) have almost no lightning on them, which makes them look flat. However, in some maps, environment details look top notch, in some others, look terrible. My only complaint is i wish main character looked more badass, and graphics are better. Main character looks far worse than in the Mordor game, but Celebrimbor looks far better. In Shadow of War, you forget you're grinding because of the nemessis system, a lot of random orc captain encounters and item drops from them are another things which you're already grinding without realizing and having fun. They say it's grindy, well, at least it's not as grindy as GTA V. Game feels a bit harder than the first one, defeating orc captains or other bosses sometimes make you feel like you're playing Dark Souls simulator because of the dodge moves you make.

If you completed the first game, Shadow of Mordor, you'll be a champion in Shadow of War. You don't need to buy any loot boxes etc.
